"I'm not entirely aware of his relations to this man, no; I was told, however, to meet him here on academy grounds to discuss a contract to be made. You have no need to worry, Princess. I will keep him out of any trouble. Though I doubt he'd get into any, that would go against mercenary codex." He put on his most confidant smile. He knew nothing about mercenary codex or rules, but the little bit he knew about the Princess was she liked to pursue things further than needed. He may not put her mind at ease, but if he could at least deter her long enough to form this contract without extenuating circumstances or resources, the better off he'd be.

Ventreus took a few steps back and waved his hands, gesturing towards the front doors. "If you would come with me, Sir, we can discuss your terms of...'employment'." He spoke to the man. After he would begin walking towards the door, he would turn back to the girl. "Your future highness, your father was very adamant that this contract be made. Please refrain from interacting with him at least until we have come to an agreement." He didn't want to wait for a response, but turning away from a royal related to the king would be rude, so he waited for a proper response. Would she buy his words for now? Or disregard them completely?
"Do I have to get my Bass Cannon, or will you be good?"
War is good. It stimulates the economy for both sides taking part in it; and as long as there's demand, I'll have a supply!
Naa, war is boring. There's never any good music made about war.

The princess looked perplexed for a moment, perhaps still trying to grasp the situation. She had no idea who this mercenary man was, or this "codex" Ventreus was referring to. She did know however, that Sir Allo was a trustworthy man and that she could place faith in him. Still, she wondered why this man felt the need to hide himself in the first place, and what his true purpose here was.

"Very well, Sir Allo, if you day this man is under the contract of my father then I will trust your judgement. I just felt it strange that this cloaked man was standing in the courtyard trying to hide himself in the shade, masking his magical aura so that he wouldn't draw attention. I, however am able to see traces of aura no matter how faint. No one can shut their auras off completely." The swordsman stared at the princess with curious eyes and thought to himself. "She has such an ability? I must say I am impressed, so that's how she spotted me."The serious frown left her face and was replace by a warm smile. "Very well, I shall leave you both to it then. Do take care Sir Allo." She waved her hand at the mage as a sign of farewell, not even glancing toward the swordsman. She then proceed to walk away from the scene, off to fulfill her duties as the student council president.

However, before departing completely she turned her head a said with a smile, "However, do know Sir Allo that while you are a trusted official of the royal court, I cannot simply take your word wholeheartedly. As such, I will confirm this contract with my father himself. If he tells me that he made no such arrangement, I will see that you answer to him personally." She then pointed at the sellsword, finally staring at him again. "As for you 'Mercenary', if the same case is indeed true I will see that you answer for your lies as well. Judgement has a swift hand, I assure you." She then finally takes her leave. She seemed to be heading into town with a few other students, possibly student body members.

The Iaidosai stands there as the princess leaves, looking at her from afar. He then closes his eyes for a moment before turning back to the Ventreus. "I see she holds steadfast to her morals. While it may be to a fault, I can't help but admire that." He then stares at the front doors. "Well, shall we head inside?"

When Henry paid for the potion Seth handed him the potion and told him "Thank you, feel free to come back if you need anything else." that said he waited for him to leave the shop before going back to the backroom to finish what he started writing earlier, Seth took his time doing this as he didn't really expect anyone else to come in while it still rained heavily.

Peter was called out to by none other than Tibrus Heatherman and because of this, the boy froze for a second. He has still not decided to what to do with the ice sculpture but the it was now or never. The student opted to hide the sculpture behind his back, as shattering it would only earn a few glances, as he approached the Head Architect and the two top students. "Is there something you need Mr. Heatherman?"
hothead1021 wrote:"oh, Peter right? did you make this statue? it's quite well made, quite impressive."
Ivadi complimented the work. It appeared Peter's sculpture was not as hid as he thought. "Oh, ah, thanks." Though receiving praise from a top student did feel good for the boy.

MEANWHILE

The classes were now over for today and Assassin parted ways with his Holstaur colleague. The hooded man then made his way to the courtyard and witnessed the Crown Princess of Zauberheim facing down a stranger who looked very much like an adventurer wearing dark clothing. Soon another person intervened on the stranger's behalf whom Assassin recognized as Ventreus Allo, the court mage who can sense magic in everything. It was not the first time Assassin had encountered such a person and all those persons looked upon him in curiosity as he 'did not have any'. While the hooded man would be happy to explain why, he felt it would open up many foreseen and unforeseen problems.

Once the arguing trio had left, Assassin entered the courtyard and sat on one of the benches. There he watched students, teachers and staff walk in and out of the academy as he waited for Peter Culiar. They were most likely preparing for the graduation festival which would involve having a tournament where the high-ranking students would face off each other along with some outside players. It crossed him that the stranger adventurer could be a participant though the entire tournament was of no concern to Assassin as Peter Culiar was not part of it. The boy could be a spectator but then all Assassin would have to do was sit down next to the boy as another spectator.

The rain had began to subside and for that Assassin was glad since he will not have to dry his clothes in front of any cooking spits anytime soon.

"I see you found the book I told you about..." Taking a moment he place a serious gaze upon the ice sculpture in young Peter's hands. Tibrus gave a nod before turning his attention back to the boy.

"The young lad is right boy, you've got a crafting skill that isn't seen very often. Last time I came across that kind of skill was years ago during my early travels before I settled here. Needless to say, if the rest of your work is of the same quality it could fetch a high price in the inner markets. Same goes for you Brandon lad." He turned to the boy in question.

"Once you've got a greater hold on your ability I have no doubt that your work will also be in high demand." Tibrus was never really a man who sugar-coated anything when giving his advice, even to his own children. That didn't mean he understated his opinion on unique situations either.

Regardless, he never simply inflated a child's ego, he tempered it.

"Just remember what I said earlier lad, until some testing is done, don't take my words for granted. There aren't many willing to invest in someone who's work can yield unpredictable results, even if they later prove beneficial."

He stepped ahead of the mercenary and opened the door. "All I really know about her is that this isn't the last we'll be seeing of her any time soon..." He replied rather simply. He gestured the man into the lobby of the academy. He would follow behind him. "So how was your trip here? Hopefully it wasn't too dreadful having to make your way through such a large city." he attempted to open up the conversation with a bit of a light question. When people traveled, it was always courteous to ask about their trip.

'So just what exactly do I plan on offering him as a contract for competing in the tournament? He'll obviously need a place to stay, so housing would be on the list for sure, and I don't see why free meals would be a problem, considering the king asked for him. Since he's a mercenary, he probably makes his money doing jobs given to him by multiple people, so maybe a sort of steady income with some of the more dangerous jobs around the city make peak his interests. Then again, a mercenary wouldn't want a stable job I don't think...from what I know, they prefer high risk, high reward kind of jobs...so maybe an immediate, larger sum pay right off the back? A choice between the two seemed like a good neutral ground. What else though?' After walking inside the lobby of the Academy, he started making his way down one of the hallways. This school was sometimes a maze, but regardless of the path he took, he'd end up where he wanted. "Follow me please, I've gotten the School Principle's office reserved for this, that way we have plenty of privacy while uh...'design' our contract." He could still see the bending of the motes in the walls, even with the man behind him, and it took most of Ventreus's willpower to not turn around and immideatly start prying at the man's motes. Whomever he was, he definitely had power dwelling within him. No item or aura dampening could hide his mote patterns.

"I wouldn't be surprised. I was really trying to hide myself from view of anyone, but she still spotted me. I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from the Crown Princess." The mercenary followed the court mage into the building, thanking the mage as he held the door open. "The trip here was fine. Rain doesn't bother me, as it would most. In addition, I found the absence of my previous escort to be rather refreshing." He continued to follow the mage through the school's halls. He looked around as they traveled through the academy walls. It looked like what you would expect: walls were decorated and very regal, and the air was filled with prestige. "They must have it good here", he thought.

He responded to the mage's statement. "I see very well, then. Finally we're getting somewhere." However, the swordsman was still curious about something. "By the way Sir Allo, could you perhaps tell me how you sensed my presence as well? I do not know how much you were informed about me, but I've earned quite a few names. One of them is the title 'Ghost of Arcana', part of the name comes from the fact I can dampen my aura to the point where virtually no one can sense it. Assuming you don't have the same ability as the Princess, how did you know of my presence here?"

The mercenary looked at the mage with a composed, but serious and perhaps curious face.

Northwestern gate streets

Henry walked for a small distance before he saw the bar, it looked like a cafe, but if the contact said it was a bar, then he considered it a bar, still though, the contact should have specified what it was, it didn't matter now though, as he was already entering it.

---
Northwestern area bar/cafe
---

He entered the bar, in which he noticed had quite hte ammount of people inside, ' so this is where i'll meet him hm?" he said under his breath as he then examined his surroundings, as it was raining, there was quite a lot of people in the bar, mostly citizens having fun with their friends and such, but some people standed out, specially that man with a mask in the corner table, he also noticed two women on a table in the middle both of which had a weird air around them, he paid no mind and headed to take a seat on a table near them, a bit to the right, one of the only free ones left, he sat down as the waittress quickly came "hello mister! what are you having?" she asked with a cheerful but a bit scared tone as she saw him with his hood on, he quickly took it off revealing his face as he smilled "thanks for asking, I'l have some coffee and your todays's special, which i don't know what it is mind you, as I like surprises" he said to her, "alright then, i'll bring them in a minute just you wait!" she said as she quickly went off to get it done, "well now I wait...I still don't know who the hell im supposed to be meeting..." he said under his breath as he laid back in his chair, from his table's position he could see the masked man at the corner table and the two women in the middle table, he then waited for his meal.

Ghost of Arcana? He'd heard that name before...paid little mind to it, but he had heard it before. He turned on his heels and began to walk backwards in order to address his question face to face. "I'll answer that as simply as I can...anyone can hide their aura, but nobody can hide their motes." He looked the man up and down. Thirteen motes total. Six of them he didn't know...yet. He spun back around as he continued, stepping up a flight of stairs on the way to the Principle's Office that he was so familiar with. He'd been sent here a lot for multiple things, from disrupting classrooms, to showing skill that dazzled even the most stalwart of teachers.

He opened the door as they got to the Principle's Office and stepped in. The room was empty, as he had suspected. He immideatly went to sit down at the Head Master's desk, having the urge to sit in the seat that he'd been judged from so many times before. Compared to his seat at Royal meetings...it was actually quite lack-luster, and more disappointing then he had anticipated. "Please do close the door behind you." He mentioned when the sell-sword would enter, and Ventreus stood up and approached the man. He couldn't stand it anymore. He stared at the man for a few moments before he raised one hand in front of his face. His hand strained as he began to pull it sideways. The mercenary could feel as though something was pulling him to one side. Not a hostile feeling, but a bit of an uncomfortable influence. The gleam in his eyes looked like an almost child-like wonder. "I've hardly seen motes like this before." He mumbled to himself, his vision not actually focused on the sell-sword. He blinked a few times before his vision focused back on the strange individual who stood before him, and he timidly jumped, and took a step back. "My apologies! It's just...I have only seen these motes a few times, and never got to study them when I did see them..." He wasn't quite sure if his excuse was justified, but better that he give some explanation than none at all.
"Do I have to get my Bass Cannon, or will you be good?"

As the mercenary entered the room, he shut the door behind him as the mage had asked of him. He saw the mage take a seat in what he guessed was the head master's chair. Then, he was suddenly taken off guard by what would happen next. The court official got up from the chair as quickly as he had sat down in it and was immediately in the mercenary's face. He mercenary was plagued by his staring, as it was rather.....strange. The wonderment in the man's eyes were like a child's when they received their favorite toy on their birthday. The mage then put a hand in front of his face and pulled it sideways. At this point the swordsman began to feel a peculiar sensation, as if he was being pulled in the direction of the mage's hand. Ventreus mumbled something to himself, but the sellsword couldn't quite make it out.

"Wha...What is this sensation, what are you doing?" At these words the mage snapped back from what seemed like a dream state before jumping back and giving a hasty apology. The mercenary stared at the man for a moment, his face perplexed and in a state of slight confusion. The swordsman then returned to his regular calm demeanor, his face now in its usual state of composure. He then listened as the mage talked about how he doesn't see motes like his often, whatever those are. " I assume these 'motes' are how you found me? If so, I don't suppose you could tell me what they are exactly? For all my travels, I've never heard of such a thing."

The mercenary then reached for his pocket to pull out something. "And so we don't get off track, perhaps after your concise explanation of your 'ability' you could explain the meaning of this coin I was given. I've been wondering what it was for quite sometime now, with no answer." The mercenary held up his hand to reveal a glossy golden coin. It had the insignia of a sun on it.

"Yeah, sure. I'm in a good mood so I'm willing to do a favor for you. Though, I'll remember that you'll owe me.", Brandon said to Ivadi who asked for a favor. It was true that he's in a good mood from his conversation with Tibrus Heatherman. Not to mention that his opinion made him realize that he should try and learn more about his ability.

His snapped his attention back to Tibrus again when he called him out again. He gave him a few more advice that Brandon should definitely remember. "Thank you sir, and I'll be sure to remember your advice.", he said to Tibrus.

---
Cafe
---

Standing outside of the cafe from before, he was holding a cup of coffee and a bag that contains a chicken special from the cafe. Adjusting his mask slightly to allow him to drink the coffee, he took a sip of before moving further into town. He doesn't feel like looking for an inn at the moment, he decided to make a temporary 'camp'. Walking towards an alleyway, he pulled out small slip of paper. On the slip of paper, the word 'Shelter' was visible. Flicking it to the ground, the word glowed brightly and the ground began to shift and crumble from the spell. In a matter of minutes, a small house that took up the entire entrance of the alleyway was constructed. The house was made of dirt, but it'll serve its purpose. Entering the house, a slab of earth closed the entrance behind him.

Letting out a tired sigh, he walked to the center of the house, in response to his needs, a the earth beneath him constructed a table and a small chair. Though, they're more like large flat surfaced stones to be honest. Sitting down, he placed the bag and coffee on the table before removing his mask. He let out a sigh of relief as he breathed in fresh air. The mask was getting stuffy from the humidity. He began eating his meal before moving onto more serious matters such as his job or The Order. Thirty minutes passed and he finished his meal. He let out a small burp, "Wow, today must be a special day!", he stated as he made a terrible pun about the chicken special. That aside, he pulled out a sheet of paper and a marker. On the top of the paper, he wrote 'Map of the Kingdom of Zauberheim'. The words glowed as a map of the kingdom was being drawn on the sheet of paper. Within minutes, Word Play got a map of the kingdom already.

"Alright, time for some Order Hunting!", he said happily as he laid the map down on the table and pulled out another slip of paper. In kanji, he wrote 'Find the Men of The Order' on it. In a flash, the slip of paper burst into flames. In a sequence of movements, the ashes turned into miniature chess pawns that began moving across the map. The spell he used allowed him to find and track down the current Order members in the kingdom. However, he won't know about any other Order members that may arrive in the kingdom later on in the future. Though, Word Play doesn't really care about that. All he cares about is finding some Orderites. Looking at the map, he noticed that there are a few Orderites at a bar. "Two in the same place? Great! I want to play a round of Shell when I get there!", he said happily as he got up as he put away the map and pawns in his cloak, he pulled another slip of paper out. In kanji he wrote, 'Shadow Run' on the slip of paper. In one swift movement, he fell through the floor as if he was standing on water, but his shadow remain behind. Suddenly, the shadow bolted through the door of the house and through the streets. With its occupant gone, the house collapsed and reform back to the entrance of the alleyway while Word Play swiftly made his way to the two Orderites.

(OOC: The two orderites I'm referring to are KillMoves' characters.)

Tibrus told Peter as he gazed at the ice sculpture.
"Ah yes Mister Heatherman. It was really helpful." The student replied.

The Head Architect continued.
"Thank you Mister Heatherman." Peter humbly replied though he left out the part that without his magic, any ice sculptures he sold will inevitably turn into a puddle of water unless kept in a freezing area.

Ivadi then got up from his seat after talking to Brandon.

He said as he gave each of the three remaining men a packet of Zipangu Star Candy.
"Oh. Farewell then." Peter bade the son of the archmage.

The boy had not seen the Star Candy before and upon looking at it, he could only describe it as small balls of clouds that came in various bright colors. He was going to taste them later and share some with Assassin. Speaking of Assassin, Peter realized it was getting late and his enigmatic friend was probably waiting in the courtyard for him like he always did. While Assassin assured the boy he could wait forever, Peter felt guilty about having someone wait for him patiently like a dog waiting for its master to come back.

"Um, Mister Heatherman? I must ask to be excused too since I have a friend waiting for me in the courtyard." Peter said before putting the ice sculpture and the Ice Tome in his bag. "Farewell Mister Heatherman and Mister Valiquette." The student then made his way out of Magical R&D and towards the Seraph Academy courtyard. It was then he realized he took the Ice Tome with him when he should have returned it. Peter sighed and thought about returning to Magical R&D but he was already too far gone. He resigned to simply returning the tome to the Library and so there he went.

He only hoped Assassin would not be terribly bored in the courtyard.

ELSEWHERE

"You know, Sir Booker sure is taking his time." Annabelle told her magician ally in a slightly annoyed tone. They had been waiting in the cafe for quite a while now and they both admitted their backsides were now hurting.
"Practicing a little patience doesn't hurt Belle." Rielle told her cannibal comapanion. "I'm sure Sir Booker has a lot of things to take care of, being the leader of the Order around here and all."
"Hmph. You just like him."
Rielle did not expect Belle to resort to that so quickly but cannibal was not wrong. "Well I admit my eyes are attracted to him like a magnet but it's only that."
"Well congratulations but I doubt he'll look at you the same way." Belle said. "He seems pretty married to his job."

"Heh...if only I'd crafted a spell for every time I had been asked how my 'abilities' work. I would fill a small library with books on just the creating of magic..but yes, I suppose that if I'm to interact with your motes, you deserve an explanation as to what's actually going on. In all creatures: living, dead, ethereal, existing, everything, they all have what I like to call an essence. An essence is the magical composure of that entity as an entirety. Imagine the essence to be like...your soul. It's a part of your creation, and without it, you'd not be complete. An essence is constructed of something that I've heard that only I can see, which are small, wisp-like globes that seem to chain together and form into patterns. I call these wisps motes, because they look almost identical to your typical elemental mote cores. Apparently not a lot of people remember what those are anymore though...I found them in a dusty book in the back of the public library here. But besides that, I've leaned how to manipulate and study these motes, and I know how to chain them together into patterns that can create spells that can do a range of anything I want." He moves his hands in the air randomly, moving his hands from an outward position inwards, almost as if he was cleaning windows, as odd as that comparison might be, but within a few moments a shimmering ball began to form in the epicenter of where his hands were moving, and after he stopped moving his hands, they went to rest at his sides, and the ball of shimmering light began to move around quickly, almost similar to a Fairy in movement patterns and speed.

"I'm sure you have heard of one of the spells of the king, referred to as Venom Seeps from Shadows? Something I created for him, five years ago." He smiled proudly at the fond memory, and the month of explosions that went on directly in front of his face trying to get the proper mote pattern. He then suddenly perked up as his attention snapped back to the sell-sword. "Oh that's right! If you'll be competing in the upcoming tournament, there's a good chance the princess will be as well. There's no doubt that she'll end up knowing how to use that spell before the tournament begins, either through my teaching, or the king's himself. So you'll get to see it first hand too, I would imagine." He put a finger on his chin in thought, and when the sell-sword asked him a question, he looked up to see a sun-stamped coin. He blinked. 'Did the king give him that? He must have, no one in their right minds would give one of those up.' "That...uhm...imagine it like...a form of payment. Basically you can take it to just about any business in the kingdom, and show them the coin, and instead of asking you for cash, they'll take the gold required for payment from the king. If he's given you one of those...then he must expect this meeting to be less of a form of payment, and more of a 'fleshing out the kinks' and descriptive meeting. Well that changes quite a bit! In that case, you will be able to get food for as long as you're here, as well as lodging at any inn for as long as the tournament lasts. Of course, most equipment or reagents are obtainable through that coin. Though there are a multitude of things it can't get, which tend to be the rarer things in the kingdom. How it works is confusing, you'd have to ask the king himself for an actual breakdown of how it works, it was his legislation for VIP coins..." He sat back down in the Head-Master's chair, and looked out of the window behind the desk. 'So does this mean all I'm doing is helping him figure out if he wants to take up the contract, and then telling him what he'll be doing? Simpler than I thought...wish the king had told me he'd given him a coin.'
"Do I have to get my Bass Cannon, or will you be good?"
War is good. It stimulates the economy for both sides taking part in it; and as long as there's demand, I'll have a supply!
Naa, war is boring. There's never any good music made about war.
You realize I'm a merchant...not a DJ, right?
Oh, that's what you're doing wrong! I knew it was something, couldn't quite tell what.

"Huh. So, you have the ability to see the 'essence' of all things. And you were able to use this ability to locate me despite my masking skills, heh, impressive." The swordsman made a slight chuckle at the mage's explanation of his powers, finding them to be rather intriguing. He then listens to the rest of Ventreus's words.

The swordsman makes a smirk and then begins to speak. "Hmph, so you were the one who developed those spells the Royal family is known for. I think I know you know. You're the child prodigy I've heard whispers of in my travels, being able to manipulate these essences to create new spells. To think the king would sent you to meet me." The mercenary then looks at his coin. "And this coin is some sort of special rights token, a payment in advance so to speak. How interesting."

The swordsman then returns to his callous demeanor, he turns to leave for the door. Before he exits the room, he turns his head in the direction of Ventreus. "Tell the Jormungandr that I accept the contract and will participate in the tournament. If he's willing to give me such a gift and someone of your caliber to meet with me, I suppose I should oblige him. Thanks for your help earlier and for meeting with me. Inform the tournament officials of my acceptance. If you or anyone else have need of me, I'm sure you can find me. " The swordsman then takes his leave, closing the door behind him. As he walks down the hall, his stomach reminds him of a past thought. "Shit, that's right, I need to eat." At that moment the mercenary sees a young boy, most likely a student given the uniform, walking down the hall, mumbling how he was hungry himself. From what the swordsman could tell, the boy had white hair and deep sapphire eyes. He figured he could follow the student, who obviously knows were the cafeteria is.

The mercenary also figures that if he runs into any trouble, he can simply use the coin he obtained for clearance (and to get food).

Seraph Academy Cafeteria

Ivadi noticed the swordsman following him as he went to get food from the cafeteria. curious he stopped to look at the man who was following him. he probably guessed he was hungry himself as he called out to the swordsman and gestured him to come sit with him once he got his food. while he was a bit shy socially, when something peaks his interest, he focuses on that. "I think I can guess as to why you are here." the young man said

Seraph Cafeteria
-----------------------

The mercenary went to the entree line to get food. His server was a busty Holstaurus wearing a standard cafeteria worker's uniform. Her eyes glisten with pleasure at the sight of the swordsman. The swordsman was used to it though, it didn't really bother him that much. The dish he asked for mostly consisted of meat and a couple of vegetables, and a few dessert items. He then notices the gesture made by the boy to come over to his table.

"Oh, he's calling me over? I...guess I could sit with him. I thought he would be a little more cautious." The mercenary decides to oblige the boy and sits with him. "You're not very cautious are you? The Princess wasn't this willing to socialize when she first saw me." says swordsman while looking at the young student's plate, which consisted of a rather copious amount of sweets.

"Oh I am very cautious, i just tend to take more risks than others. As for the Princess, while she is a kind and pretty individual. her tendency to get everything to order sometimes makes her oblivious to the obvious." He said as he took a sip of his drink. "Like you for instance, while one might think you are a trespasser on private property, if one thinks about it, one might say and this is just a guess here...that you're also a participant in the tournament. If that is the case, then know how much it means for your purpose here to be a secret so I'll keep quiet about it. besides, im not a participat in the tournament anyway." he said with a smile

The mercenary was impressed with the boy's perceptive mind. He deduced that he was one of the secret members of the tournament rather quickly, and understood its best for both parties to keep his true status secret. "I must say you're quite sharp, despite your age. Are all you Seraph students this astute or are you a special case? At any rate, just think of me as 'extra security' while I'm here at the school for the time being."

While the mercenary stared at the boy, he wondered who he was really. There was something....unique about him. "Tell me boy, who are you exactly? Not many people are welcoming to strange men in cloaks as you are."

"heh heh, well everyone here tends to be a little bit above average as students. but i'm also a rather special case yes." he said as he sipped some of his drink before continuing "As for who I am, My name is Ivadi Ambrosius, son of Merlin Ambrosius the Archmage." he said as he didn't mind if people know who he was or where his family lineage lie.
