Hatsume on ice
Greetings
Perhaps she moves around like a ballerina dancer on her tiptoes.
On a side note better to not make her mad, because if even she lacks of actual
feet to kick one´s arse she could use her pinpoint ends to pierce through it...if you
know what I mean...
Regards.
Yes. She is the official Ice elemental.revanwolff wrote:An Ice Queen very interesting is she an elemental?

Now I'm waiting for a combination of elementals that can form into one special elemental after a summoner has formed a pact with 2 or more of them..
Hey it could maybe happen.

Re: Glacies
Elemental Fusions? Paraelementals? The Ooze, Smoke, Magma, and Ice Elementals of D&D come to mind. Seems like KC is already doing some of those, though. Lol, and now I'm thinking of the Ravenloft ones, too; Blood, Mist, Grave, and Pyre. He's made a Taint Elemental already through the Dark Matter. Hmmm...

Re: Glacies
The translation for Glacies is up on the first posting. Just waiting on Blake81 to turn it into a profile for everyone. So Merry belated Christmas to everyone. I hope you enjoy the read.
It seems that there are other ways to get spirit energy from humans than the usual intercourse and bodily fluids...oh and this MG is the embodiment of this trope: Defrosting the Ice Queen

Re: Glacies
For right now I am going to have to ask that everyone please stop discussing the topic of plagiarism. This is not the thread for that. This thread is meant for constructive discussion about the Glacies. Thank you very much for your consideration.

Plus there's the fact that if there's an element of it, there tends to come eventually an elemental of it any given amount of time after -- and in any given amount of ways.Flare wrote:Especally since there are MANY different forms of ice elementals out there in various lores.
And great, now I'm contemplating a xenon elemental.
Besides that, though, the thought of an entity that has the form of ice but the warmth of a human is rather novel, I daresay. Heaven help us, however, if a certain Batman movie manages to find its way to the MGE-verse in some fashion.
Even beyond the cold reception Poison Ivy would get from the Order, it's rather chilling to imagine one of these lovelies spouting such a flurry of ice puns.

I think I might've found a possable influance for this one, besides the trope.

Re: Glacies
Interesting...I can see some of the influence. I can faintly remember another story in which a person had the power to make a person's heart cold, but I can't remember the name of the story. Anyway, I think I really like this MG. I find her profile .... um.... heartwarming.

Re: Glacies
Sorry, I have to ask since the other forum also has this, why does your translation list "Elemental Family, Element Type", the kanji for the family is 精霊 (Shiryou/Seirei) which means Spirit, Ghost, Soul. Her type is easily read EREMENTO in katakana, but since KC uses the katakata (for the type), why is "spirit family" changed to "Elemental family". For examples of this, have a look at the untranslated (RAW) copies of the Dark Matter, she's a "Spirit Family, Spirit Type". I'm not angry at anyone, I'm just curious since its the same here and Perentie's explanation was "context", but, being able to read some Japanese myself, "Spirit Family" doesn't leave much room for contextual interpretation (especially when KC already uses the term "elemental" on some things).

Re: Glacies
Well, that was the translation provided to us. I do know that in Japanese, seirei are elemental spirits, so in that sense the translation still stands. In that case, it was probably left to the translator on how the word should be translated and this time he went a step further and translated the concept of seirei to elemental. I know that there are a lot of words for spirit/soul in Japanese, but maybe the context that was meant is by linking Kenkou's word choice with an implied meaning of the word.
I think that for consistency we might have to change it to how it is listed in the other profiles though...Thanks for the info.
EDIT - After looking at all the Elemental profiles, the Dark Matter is the only one whose translation is listed as Spirit Family -- Spirit Type. The other elementals (Ignis, Undine, Gnome, and Sylph) are listed as being Elemental Family -- Elemental Type. They all use the same kanji for their family and type text, but I think what happened is the translator switched to "elemental" when the Undine was released (she was the first of the four) after realizing that Kenkou was now making elementals.

Re: Glacies
Actually the Yuki Onna gets the Spirit version of it too.
Also, there are multiple examples of 精霊 being used as "spirit", none as "elemental", for an obvious one which is across a wide range of medias, 精霊の守り人 Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moribito:_ ... the_Spirit
Again, not peeved or anything, but I'm not seeing what "additional context" is making it "elemental", especially when KC already uses "Eremento" as the type, its not that KC is confused here using an english term (Especially with things like the Kitsune-bi, what, she's the elemental of horny Inari's fox fire, I don't think that counts as an element )
