Translation note: *湿った Shimetta in one sense means wet, in another sense means something like “melancholy, depressing, gloomy”

Kenkou's notes:

今回は海藻の魔物娘「フロウケルプ」です。
This time it's the kelp monster girl, “flow kelp”.

海中を妖しく漂う湿った雰囲気を感じさせる魔物で、
They're monsters that drift alluringly through the sea and give off a melancholic (*wet) aura,

性格もその通りにじとっと粘着質な娘らしいです。
and it seems the girls' personalities are just like that too, wet and sticky.

彼女達の身体は水分を吸ったり乾いたりで、ある変化があるのだとか…?
Their bodies undergo certain changes by absorbing moisture or drying up, or something like that...?

I'm unsure of how to regard this one...
I've read about someone claiming this gal to be an adaptation from the Kelpie (a water spirit in Scottish lore, which most notably known shape is that of a horse).
However her lack of equine (or mermaid if you take into consideration the similarities/connections between Kelpies and Chilote Sea Horses (creatures from Chilean lore that have somehow of a resemblance to sea horses)) traits makes me doubt it.

However in case this one happens to be a kelpie... That would mean I actually managed to predict something!

Kaijin can see the future...In the future!

Anyway... Regardless if she's a mythological adaptation or simply a seaweed personification...
...I'll save my two cents until more info about her is known.

.P.S.: Visually wise is quite pleasant at least ^^

I gotta do it.

Unda da sea!

unda da sea!

Darling it's better!

down where it's wetter!

unda da sea!

Little mermaid aside, I'm looking forward to this one!

she looks so lonely and like she might need a Hug!

Also, from reading her profile, she's not related to the Kelpie sadly enough

Quite pretty. Wonder what kind of seaweeds she was based off of...

And now I would love to see a Kelp "Dryad" of sorts.

And yes, I know such a thing would never be a true dryad given that kelp is a form of algae.

By the looks of it...Kombu.
Which will supposedly make this gal popular with balding men as Kombu kelp supposedly prevents hair loss (and also is good for keeping hair strong and lustrous).

This may be one of the more human looking MGs I've seen from Kenkou in a while.

Still, she looks interesting. Look forward to reading the translation

Man, it seems KK decided that the Shirohebi wasn't clingy enough and decided to make a girl that may as well be called the ''Clingkelp''.... not like that's bad IMHO, hehe.

She also seems to possess Kii and Suu's ''Instant Mature Body! Just add water, plenty of it.'' skill, as well as the reverse version that turns them into lolis when they dry up...

UGH way too clingy for me *gives the pokeball to Blake* you can have her, I like being able to physically be away from a mamono, and this one won't let me do that. I like the *able to swell at will* piece, just her being WAY too clingy is a massive turnoff for me.

Don't think I'd mind the clinginess too much to tbh. Sure at first it'd be a bit overwhelming but after a time I think I could get used to it. And like you Musical I like the "swell at will' bit. I'll just remember to keep hydration levels a constant and it's all good. As for the clinginess itself?

THINK OF THE CUDDLES!

Well... It's a kelpie for sure, but she's based on the Dungeons and Dragons incarnation rather than in Scottish lore.
But still... I managed to nail a predicition ^^

Anyway...
She's actually a really faithful adaptation to the source she's based on, which is pretty much okay in my book.
And visually wise the design is quite appealing and the fact her physique is modified by dampness is quite a nice touch (she reminds me of a Giant Slug in that regard).

Maybe a tad too clingy but other than that she's quite a likable entry (for me at least).

.P.S.: I also seemed to nail the kelp/seaweed species seems the last paragraph clearly implies she's based on Kombu, since it's actually the seaweed used to make Dashi.

Overall looks pretty nice, especially the green color palette. Just don't care for the slightly exposed stomach. All or none for me! Can't help from bust out laughing when I read "human men's mana" though, it will never be the seme-err-same after seeing semen diets in over 100 profiles.

Really? The translations switched over to "spirit energy" (which is presently translated as "human men's mana") right around when MGU started. I don't think there was ever a time when a majority of profiles listed "semen" as the diet.

Course there are some that have semen as the diet accurately: slimes, alraunes, etc.

To clarify. Mana or Spirit Energy was defined in five forms with priorities from worst to best (For the majority of the MGs): Blood, Air, Sweat, Saliva, Semen
