Echidna
Lamia Family -- Reptile Type

Habitat: Deep within dungeons
Disposition: Lustful
Diet: Animal meat

A higher race of lamia. Like their cousins, echidna have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a snake. Their extraordinarily powerful magic sets them apart from the other lamia races. Their personalities vary between individuals, but the one common factor is their extraordinary libido.

Very few in number, they make their homes in the deepest parts of perilous dungeons and seldom appear in the outside world. On the assumption that anyone powerful enough to reach their lair is worth having their child by, echidna scatter treasure about their home dungeon to lure humans toward the center.

With her powerful magic, an echidna will disguise herself as a human and spread rumors about the riches to be found in her home. When a desirable man makes his way to the core of the dungeon, the echidna seduces him. If she is particularly taken with him, she may decide to keep him. When her new consort emerges from the dungeon, he will have a heroic tale to tell. But the story will be false, and the woman at his side will be the echidna.

The echidna possesses a power unique among monsters. The first child born to an echidna will be of the same kind as its mother. However, the later children will be of various types, appearances, and personalities, seemingly at random. Though it has not been confirmed, scholars believe this is where many monster races came from. This ability is why the echidna are known as the Mother of Monsters. They seek out superior men so their monstrous children will have superior abilities.

Now let´s see, Echidna means "she-viper" and according to the Greek myth she mothered various
abomination including, but not limited to, the following:
The WikiTruth wrote:
Orthrus - The two-headed dog which guarded the Cattle of Geryon.
Cerberus - The many-headed dog which guarded the gates of Hades.
The Lernaean Hydra - The many-headed sea monster which when one of its heads was cut off grew two more.
The Chimera - A fire breathing beast that was part lion, part goat, and had a snake-headed tail.
The Caucasian Eagle — An eagle that every day ate the liver of Prometheus.
The Crommyonian Sow - Killed by Theseus.
The Gorgon - A similar serpentine monstrosity to her mother.
The Colchian Dragon - A dragon that guarded the Golden Fleece.
Scylla - According to Hyginus.
The Teumessian fox - A fox that was destined never to be caught. It was sometimes called the Cadmean vixen.
It would very very kind of KKK of ever thinking of making some profiles for them
(not counting the Scylla), wouldn´t it? (some of them made a cameo appearance
in one of the Echidna´s Sub images)

Yours.

I think she would be the greatest treasure of any dungeon. And you'd certainly have an interesting family being married to her.

Hmm, if mind serves, the one that was fruit of a curse was Medusa, not gorgon. Though in some accounts they are the same being, that's not correct. Gorgon was more like the name for the race of snake haired creatures. As far as I know, Echidna never had any snake hair; only a snake lower half like those of the lamiae. In fact, I think I also heard somewhere that Echidna was the mother of the Gorgon race. Lemme do some research on them.....

*sigh*
You guys know that Knuckles is actually one of...

Image
...these creatures, right?

Knuckles is based on an Australian mammal, known for being one of the few mammals able to lay eggs and secrete milk out of their sweat glands instead of their nipples (the other ones being able to do so are playtypus).

Knuckles has no connection whatsoever with the mythological creature.

Well, as a trademark generality for me, I don't really dig the Lamia types all that much cuz'o how mortally screwed you are should you shack up with one and she has the SLIMEST suspicion of making eyes at another female.
You know what the problem is with motivational speakers? They speak to much. Nowadays, the analogy "actions speak louder than words" is regarded so much as the norm that whenever motivational speakers do what they came for, nearly every person making up their audience couldn't really give any less of a flyin' fuck.

Members of the naga family seem to have that trait (Lamias strangle you to death, Shirohebis decide to severely burn you on the inside with their powers, Medusae probably petrify you (unlike the other two it's not specified on her profile but it's a pretty common and sensible guess))... However there's not anything of said nature mentioned on Echidna's profile.

My guess is that they are intelligent and powerful enough to able to control themselves (their goal in life is bearing as many children as possible and dead men are not good parents nor good breeders) or maybe they simply don't needed at all... Echidnas are extremely rare and they often live in places difficult to reach (such as the deepest part of a dungeon) where it's high unlikely to find other women nor mamono wandering around... So if an Echidna finds and marry a man, she won't probably have to worry about such a matter.

So... You're pretty much safe around one of these snake ladies.
And Kaijin you are the "Perentie" of this place, IMO.

Yesterday, my "order of favorites" as far as the snake-women go was:

1. Echidna
2. Lamia
3. Tie between Shirohebi and Medusa

Today, it has changed a little:

1. Tie between Echidna and Lamia
2. Tie between Shirohebi and Medusa

The "multiple different species of monsters that she births" thing sounds like it'd make being a father a pain in the ass. The regular Lamia is nice, because I know for a fact that after I demonstrate my Jeremiah Gottwald-level loyalty to her, I won't have to worry about yandere-ish revenge strangling. In other words, the Echidna fell a little due to the pondering of "What would it be like to father her kids?"

The Shirohebi's "lust flames" are a bit of a turn-off, and the Medusa's possibility of turning me to stone during intercourse or even during intimate displays of affection prevents her from rising above the Shirohebi.

I can imagine this happening quite a lot, but what if a dude got through such a hard-to-traverse place, seeking treasure, yet instead finding an Echidna with open arms and NOTHING ELSE, thereby causin'im to elicit the mother of all WTF faces followed by a "fuck this shit" action.

you know this kind of makes me wonder, if the Echidna is the "Mother of all Monsters" Does that mean she has the potential to give birth to a new type of Mamono as well?

An interesting thought, but probly a faulty one. Pretty sure somethin' like that is only given to ones among the DL's very own gene pool.

According to her bonus art, indeed.
I mean... take a look to her bonus art, one of her offsprings has traits that can only be seen on a Chimera, creature that doesn't have a profile on her own...yet.

Hoo boy.....I'm sure THAT profile'll be fun for everyone....but back to the Echidna though. Seeing all the snake-ocity on'er makes me begin to question if there's anything about that CAN'T be like a snake, as hypocratic as that might sound.

So does anyone else like the idea of a young Echidna (Teenage maybe) who likes to travel around while practicing her magic and tries to avoid staying cooped up in a dungeon?
Men, we led those dumb bugs out to the middle of nowhere to keep 'em from gettin' their filthy claws on Earth. But, we stumbled onto somethin' they're so hot for, that they're scramblin' over each other to get it.
