Remnant is the planet RWBY lives on while containing three main continents with four nations:

Sanus: Vale and Vacuo
Solitas: Atlas
Anima: Mistral

Other landmasses include:
Vytal: An island North of Vale and hosts a worldwide tournament every two years.
Menagerie: Southeastern landmass currently inhabited by the Faunus
(The dragon-shaped continent on the Northwest is unnamed and left enigmatic)

Said planet is inhabited by three main species: Humans, Faunus and the Grimm.

Humans on the planet are supernatural, able to generate a field of energy around them and whatever object they possess called Aura; energy drawn from the soul of a being, some individuals have signature abilities called semblance to enhance their abilities, those who hone their skills are likely to utilize them for the purpose of becoming aspiring hunters/huntresses.

Faunus are like humans with the exception of having animal-like features on their bodies, said traits have subjected them to racial discrimination and mistreatment by humans, although Humans and Faunus can procreate with each other, their children may run a 50/50 chance of being one or the other.

Grimm are animal-like creatures of various kinds characterized with a black body and white facial mask. They inhabit the realms as hostile beings against the Faunus and Humans, attracted to their negativity emitted and will kill on sight, although they do not require to eat to survive, they do so willingly.

Resources on the planet include water, fauna and flora, stone and a key resource called Dust, that comes in different forms and can be utilized in many ways. To use as a finite energy source, as ammunition and explosives or self-injected to amplify one's abilities.
